My name is Viveka. I am a multidisciplinary artist and designer currently based in London (UK). I was born in A Coruña, on the northwest coast of Galicia, Spain, but my professional career has allowed me to live in places such as London, Madrid, Antwerp and New York City.

My idea of creation can be described as alchemical, seeking a betterment of the environment and a correspondence and balance between the inner and outer worlds, the physical and the psychological, the past and the present and the self and the community. 

After working long-term as a fashion designer, I developed a deep interest in repurposing discarded and used materials and textiles as tools for storytelling in art pieces, a lot of times, also adding embroidery to them. This focus on the residual reflects themes of identity, loss, trauma and the passage of time from an emotional perspective.

Under the name amoelbarroco, I developed a conceptual garment design initiative in which the designs are part of a wider narrative that inspires people to live more consciously, promoting sustainable practices as much as possible. 

 My work has been exhibited across Spain in cities such as Santiago, A Coruña, Madrid, Salamanca or León, as well as internationally in locations including London, New York, Ankara, Cairo, and Amman.
